As winter approaches people with equipment that uses water may add anti-freeze to them to avoid ice damage, e.g water features, car windscreen washers and radiators, etc. However, the consequence to wildlife can unfortunately be fatal. A Bleadon resident has asked BOB to make others aware of this potential problem as their cat suffered kidney failure due to suspected anti-freeze poisoning. Sadly the vet subsequently had to put the cat to sleep. Apparently animals like the sweet taste of anti-freeze, which people may not realise, so please exercise caution in any use of anti-freeze.
