"The BBC today announced dedicated programming across television, radio and BBC iPlayer to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe." (29 APR 20)

"V E Day began with Mr Churchill's broadcast officially announcing the end of war in Europe. Londoners took to the streets in celebrations which continued for nearly two days. Outside Buckingham Palace the crowds chanted 'we want the King' and were rewarded by the Royal Family appearing on the balcony. At nine o'clock in the evening the King broadcast to Britain and the Commonwealth."

"Several proposals as to what the village organisations were prepared to organise are currently being collated. Activities such as a play from the Bleadon Players, specifically themed flower displays by the Bleadon in Bloom Group as well as Bleadon Brownies who have offered to help. ​It was suggested that the securing of a Beacon possibly sponsored by Marshalls should be investigated.
