Dear Recipient,
The Public Service and Local Policing Team at Force Headquarters sends you this message on behalf of Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens:
Hello
I would like to bring to your attention and raise awareness of the current Home Office consultation on the police powers of stop and search, concerning the powers used regarding street crime, burglary, anti-social behaviour, and public order offences such as riots and violent protests (the consultation excludes counter terrorism).
The consultation looks at whether stop and search is used appropriately and fairly, and how it can be better targeted and more intelligence-led.
If you would like to participate and put your views forward regarding the use of these stop and search powers then a link to the consultation, via the PCC website is: http://www.consultation.avonandsomerset.police.uk/aspola/stop-and-search/consult_view . Please pass on the word about this consultation, which ends on 12 August 2013.
After you have completed the consultation via this link, should you have any additional, specific comments then please contact me directly and I will pass them on.
Thank you for your time and help in raising awareness about this important matter.
Yours sincerely,
SUE MOUNTSTEVENS
