Money Scam

Posted on 15th April, 2013

Hi This is Emma, PCSO for the Villages.

I wanted to bring to your attention a report relating to a money scam which occurred a few times in the last couple of months in the Worle area

A female described as being slim, 18-22 years, with very long red hair tied in a ponytail approached an elderly couple in their 80's whilst they pulled onto their driveway around midday. She claims she had ran out of gas at her house and has left a small child at the premise whilst she attended her mother's address. She was distressed and convincing and was lent £20 cash.

This female left behind a contact name and number which are false and the money was obviously not repaid. The victims allowed this female into the premise but do not believe anything else has been taken.

Another story from the same female was that Social services were at her house and would take her children away if she did not top up her electric so asked to again borrow cash which was never repayed.

Please do not allow anyone into your property that you don't know and we would not advise lending money to strangers like this either.

If the young lady described above does this at your property please call 101 ASAP

Thank you
