Village Burglaries

Posted on 13th March, 2013

"As you may know there have been an increasing number of burglaries in the villages of Hutton, Locking and Banwell. Most offences are being carried out

during the afternoon and early evening. Around the time of the most recent burglary on 26th March, a witness saw the following described male who is sought in connection with these offences.

Pale white skin, short black hair, short on the sides, roughly a few centimetres long with the top being longer which was gelled and brushed forward coming down to about the middle of his forehead. The male was roughly 5'5" tall and slim build, he looked young in the face maybe 15-16yrs of age. He was wearing a black zip up coat which was made of material similar to that of a cagoule, wearing a medium sized back pack with two shoulder straps, possibly dark in colour, black school style trousers and smart black shoes.

Please be aware and Tel: 101 should you have any information to pass on. Thank you."

Please be aware that there is a current spate of dwelling burglaries throughout the villages surrounding Weston Super Mare. Entry has been gained via the rear of the properties and the thieves are looking for jewellery and cash.

We believe that the times of the burglaries are between 5pm and 7pm.

Please encourage residents to keep their homes and property secure. It may be of benefit for people to photograph any Jewellery that they keep in the house in the unlikely event that items are taken the photographs can be handed to the Police.

If any of your residents are worried about their security please contact me and we will arrange a visit.

You are probably aware that there continues to be a steady stream of burglaries across North Somerset and particularly the villages. The investigations into finding the criminals are ongoing and currently no one has been arrested. In order to assist the police, we would like to hear from any member of the public who witnesses anyone acting suspiciously; details of any related vehicles and about anyone or thing that appears to look out of place. Please do not hesitate to ring 101 immediately, or if you suspect that a burglary is in progress, ring 999.

If you would like some advice on home security and would like a home visit, please ring 101 and your PCSO will be able to arrange an appointment to see you.

If you have information about any crime, phone the police on 101 or you can call anonymously to the independent charity CRIMESTOPPERS 0800 555 111. For general information about Neighbourhood Watch nationally see the www.ourwatch.org.uk website.
