The final total for the collection in the village - £1207.51 + £144.50 from church retirement collection
This year's (2014) Poppy Appeal has resulted in the highest ever collection in Bleadon. With payments for two wreaths still to come the total is £1127.51, well above the previous best. To this must be added £144.50 from the retirement collection at the Remembrance Sunday service, again a record.
We are indebted to the house-to-house collectors:Caroline Bayntun, ID Clarke, Jane Derrick, Sue Gibson, Amanda Herman, Gill Hobbs, Pauline Rider and Sarah Ripley. Then there were the static boxes at The Anchor, Catherine's Inn,the Church, the Post Office, Purn Caravan Park and the Queen's Arms, with a special mention for Escape, where Tracy sold brooches, bracelets and wristbands and raised over £100.
Most importantly, of course, it was the residents of Bleadon who put the money in the boxes.
