Housing Development Update plus Bleadon Classified

Posted on 2nd June, 2015

Bleadon Hill Development (2) - Wentwood Drive/Highfield Road fields

UPDATE - The Action Group has organised a public meeting at Weston Football Club, Winterstoke Road on Monday 15th June at 7.00pm. Doors open from 6.00 pm. North Somerset Council will be asked to send representatives. All welcome.
  • Weston Town Council Planning Committee meet tomorrow Wednesday 3rd June starting at 7.00 pm, venue Grove House (https://goo.gl/maps/bjtY6). To discuss the outline application (15/P/0983/O). Please make every effort to attend. BELOW IS THE DECISION OF WSMTC at their meeting.  However, North Somerset will make the final decision so PLEASE remember to comment to them.
  • OBJECTION: Weston Town Council do not support the application on the following grounds:-

    1.  Narrowing of the road access on Totterdown Lane would have an adverse impact on pedestrian and highway safety.

    2. There are numerous ecological matters in relation to wildlife preservation, flooding and drainage that require a longer period of  consideration than has been set.

    3. The site is adjacent to Oldmixon Copse a site of nature conservation and where development of this size would adversely  affect the visual amenity.

    4.  A development of this size would join up and damage separate identities of two settlements.

    5.  The development is outside the 'development boundary' and therefore contrary to the Local Plan.

    6. We note communications in respect of a Section 106 Agreement regarding this application and consider that should planning permission be granted the proposal would have a substantial impact on local facilities and services particularly in relation to dog bin, grit bin and play area provision.

  • North Somerset have also now agreed to extend deadline (June 22nd, website says 30th?) due to their failure in procedure to advertise to residents in the immediate neighbourhood. So, if you haven't yet commented, links to the application details and comments to date can be found here
